Basic Wheel-throwing Techniques

August 3 @ 6:00 pmAugust 24 @ 7:00 pm

Don’t miss this chance to try your hand at pottery while being taught by a professional: Anne

Scott Plummer, WSU Art Professor Emeritus! This four course series is funded

by SEMAC, letting you learn the basics for less than the cost of materials. At least one of your

pieces will be on display at Winona Creator’s Collective for two weeks after the glaze firing.

Learn some throwing techniques on the potter’s wheel, and throw a plaque to hang on the

wall! Celebrate what you love about Minnesota in the summer, or choose another theme for

your plaque. Also, practice throwing cylinders, the basic pottery form for all beginning potters.

Clay, underglaze and glaze provided. You’ll practice basic throwing, trimming, and glazing, and

pick up glaze-fired work after the class is over. Once you’re done, we’ll have a mini art show

display for your friends and family!

Class meets on the following dates/times:

Monday Aug 3 6 – 8:30 pm
Wednesday Aug. 5 6 – 8:30 pm
Monday Aug. 10 6 – 8:30 pm
Monday Aug. 17 6 – 8:30 pm
Monday Aug. 24 6 – 7 pm (art show display)

Please do not register if you cannot attend all meetings. Attendees must be age 14 or older.

Cost: $20, includes clay, underglazes, glazes, and firings. This class is limited to 8 participants,

and is not open to current WCC members.
