You’ll select your project and leather color at the start of class from an assortment of 25+ projects\, including wallets\, coin purses\, belts\, sunglass cases\, key chains\, clutches\, and more. DESCRIPTION:In this 8-hour-exploratory class you’ll experience and learn about three different styles of Woodcarving: Chip Carving\,  Relief Carving\, and Carving 3-D objects. You’ll get hands on experience with safe carving techniques\, the tools used for each style\, and basic sharpening. \n All tools will be provided for use during class. \n Youth ages 10 and up are welcome\, accompanied by an adult. \n Maximum class size 6 students \n We’ll have short breaks and a half-hour lunch break\, so please bring snacks\, beverages\, and a lunch. DESCRIPTION:Ever wanted to try your hand at 3d printing?  This class is for the absolute beginner\, and will help you learn basic terminology and process to start a 3d print.  You’ll select a premade design from an online resource\, use slicing software to prepare the model\, and then start the print.  You’ll leave with an understanding of how to use a 3d printer\, and maybe with a trinket or two. \n Class is taught by Paul Jacobson\, one of our leads of the 3d printing and electronics space.

DESCRIPTION:Come paint pottery at the makerspace!  We’ll have some ceramic items ready to paint glaze on – this is a fun Friday night activity or date night idea.  Items you paint will be fired in the kiln for picking up ten days later. \n Space is limited\, so buy your tickets today to secure your seat.  You can prepay for a small item (figurines\, tiny cups)\, medium items (cups\, small bowls)\, or large items (stein\, large bowl or plate) to paint.  Other items will be available to buy while on site.  If you get to the event and find something different that you’d rather paint\, we’ll charge the difference or refund you the extra amount. \n Completed items will be fired in our kiln and available to pick up at a later date.  \n This event is BYOB\, so optionally bring your favorite alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink to sip while you create your masterpiece.

DESCRIPTION:Discover how to breathe life into older fabric items by learning various mending techniques.  You’ll leave this two hour class with the basics of patches\, hems\, buttons\, darning\, and decoorative embellishment.  All repairs taught can be done without a sewing machine\, and you’ll receive a mending kit as part of taking the class. \n About the instructor \n Class is taught by Karla Seidel\, a regular mender at the Fix-It Clinics who gained a positive reputation in her neighborhood decades ago as she repaired clothes for the neighborhood kids who came to visit her son. \n This class is provided free of charge to all attendees as part of a grant from the Winona Community Foundation.

This four course series is funded \nby SEMAC\, letting you learn the basics for less than the cost of materials. At least one of your \npieces will be on display at Winona Creator’s Collective for two weeks after the glaze firing. \nLearn some throwing techniques on the potter’s wheel\, and throw a plaque to hang on the \nwall! Celebrate what you love about Minnesota in the summer\, or choose another theme for \nyour plaque. Also\, practice throwing cylinders\, the basic pottery form for all beginning potters. \nClay\, underglaze and glaze provided. You’ll practice basic throwing\, trimming\, and glazing\, and \npick up glaze-fired work after the class is over. Once you’re done\, we’ll have a mini art show \ndisplay for your friends and family! \nClass meets on the following dates/times: \nMonday Aug 3 6 – 8:30 pm\nWednesday Aug. 5 6 – 8:30 pm\nMonday Aug. 10 6 – 8:30 pm\nMonday Aug. 17 6 – 8:30 pm\nMonday Aug. 24 6 – 7 pm (art show display) \nPlease do not register if you cannot attend all meetings.
