SUMMARY:Wood Turning 101
DESCRIPTION:Ever wondered how people make bowls\, plates\, posts\, spindles\, and more out of wood? These items were probably made on a lathe through a process called wood turning\, and in Wood Turning 101 you can learn how to do this yourself!  This introductory class\, limited to just three students max\, gives you the opportunity to see and try wood turning first hand.  You’ll make a small bowl you can finish later\, while learning introductory techniques for selecting wood\, sharpening tools\, and how to turn properly and safely. \n Instructor Bio: \n Aaron Gesicki is a Professional Metallurgical Engineer who has been turning projects on lathes for over 40 years.  He is a long-time member of the American Association of Woodturners (AAW) and serves as the President of the Coulee Region Woodturners (AAW affiliated) club. His projects have been displayed at several of  the AAW International Woodturning Symposia and he will be part of the videography team at the 2027 AAW Symposium in Oklahoma City.

DESCRIPTION:Discover how to breathe life into older fabric items by learning various mending techniques.  You’ll leave this two hour class with the basics of patches\, hems\, buttons\, darning\, and decoorative embellishment.  All repairs taught can be done without a sewing machine\, and you’ll receive a mending kit as part of taking the class. \n About the instructor \n Class is taught by Karla Seidel\, a regular mender at the Fix-It Clinics who gained a positive reputation in her neighborhood decades ago as she repaired clothes for the neighborhood kids who came to visit her son. \n This class is provided free of charge to all attendees as part of a grant from the Winona Community Foundation.
